RRB Group D Eligibility Criteria


The RRB Group D Eligibility criteria comprise four main aspects that are mandatory for candidates to fulfil. The four main aspects of RRB Group D eligibility are:


1. RRB Group D Age Limit

2. RRB Group D Citizenship/Nationality

3. RRB Group D Educational Qualification

4. RRB Group D Medical Qualification


Age Limit


The RRB Group D age limit is as follows:

Lower Age limit – 18 years

Upper age limit – 33 years





Education Qualification


The railway board has set a minimum level of education qualification that a candidate must possess in order to appear for the RRB Group D level 1 examination.
A candidate who wishes to appear for Group D Railway exam must have:
Class 10th pass certificate OR
ITI degree or diploma

Any of the above degrees from a government recognised institution/Board/NCVT/SCVT is acceptable.

Medical Standard


Like educational qualification, the railway board has prescribed the RRB Group D medical requisites in the notification. Candidates who are called for DV – document verification have to pass the required medical fitness test(s) conducted by the Railway Administration.
The medical fitness tests are conducted to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to carry out the duties connected with the post opted by them. Visual Acuity Standard is one of the important criteria of medical fitness of railway staff.
The medical requirements against different medical standards for different categories are outlined below:

Near Vision: Sn. 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required



Exam Pattern


RRB Group D Level-I Selection Process

The recruitment process will involve the following stages of examination:
Computer Based Test (CBT)
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Document Verification and Medical

RRB Group D Level-1 Exam Pattern (CBT)

Based on the performance of candidates in the Computer Based Test (CBT), they would be required to go for the PET/Document Verification. The examination duration and number of questions for CBT are indicated below:

Physical Efficiency Tests (PET)

Based on the merit of the candidates in the CBT, candidates shall be called for PET Three times the community wise total vacancy of the Posts notified against RRBs/RRCs. Passing Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is mandatory and the same will be qualifying in nature. The criterion for PET is as under:


Male candidates
Female candidates
Should be able to lift and carry 35 Kg of weight for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down; and Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 meters. in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance.
Should be able to lift and carry 20 Kg of weight for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down; and Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 meters in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance.

Document Verification

Based on the performance of candidates in CBT subject to their qualifying in PET, candidates twice the number of vacancies will be called for Document Verification as per their merit and options.


RRB Group D Syllabus


a) Mathematics
Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.

b) General Intelligence and reasoning
Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical Reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.

c) General Science
The syllabus under this shall cover Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10th standard level (CBSE).

d) General Awareness and Current Affairs
General Awareness and Current Affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and any other subject of importance..
